Challenge

Blind Tiger, a startup specializing in non-alcoholic, prohibition-style cocktails, faced a daunting challenge: breaking through the crowded retail landscape of their new spirit-based canned cocktails. With many brands vying for attention, Blind Tiger needed a distinctive look that would immediately capture consumers’ interest and convey the premium, handcrafted nature of their product.

The task was to develop a new identity and packaging that would stand out on the shelf, reflect the spirit of the 1920s speakeasy culture, and appeal to consumers who crave an authentic cocktail experience. Additionally, Blind Tiger needed effective retail elements to enhance visibility and drive sales in Michigan, their first test market.

Strategy

Our strategy focused on creating a visually striking identity and packaging that would set Blind Tiger apart from competitors while staying true to its prohibition-era roots. We aimed to craft an aesthetic that was both nostalgic and modern, celebrating the allure of speakeasies while appealing to today’s trend-savvy consumers.

1. Brand Identity:

  • Revamped the brand identity to capture the mystique and rebellious spirit of the Prohibition era, combining vintage elements with a contemporary twist.
  • Used bright colors and revamped product photography to break through on the shelf

2. Packaging Design:

  • Developed unique packaging for Blind Tiger’s three core flavors and a new variety pack, each featuring distinct color palettes and illustrations
  • Created eye-catching designs ensuring strong shelf appeal and instant recognition.

3. Retail Elements:

  • Designed cost-effective and efficient retail materials, including shelf wobblers and blade signage, to enhance in-store presence and guide customers to Blind Tiger’s products.

eXECUTION

1. Packaging Launch:

  • Rolled out the new packaging across retail channels with a coordinated marketing campaign emphasizing Blind Tiger’s unique selling points: premium, handcrafted, cocktails inspired by the roaring twenties.
  • Created a dynamic unboxing experience with the variety pack, designed to be both visually appealing and functional, allowing consumers to sample all flavors at once.

2. Retail Activation:

  • Deployed shelf wobblers and blade signage for chain and retail sell in opportunities

CONCLUSION

Blind Tiger’s transformation is a testament to the power of strategic design and thoughtful retail execution. By embracing the allure of the Prohibition era and marrying it with modern design elements, our agency helped Blind Tiger not just break through the retail clutter but become a standout leader in the growing canned cocktail market.
